This is a design research project developed in Barcelona, Spain. iberia being one of the largest markets for sandals, The purpose of the project was to create a collection of open footwear products including multiple variations of slides, sandals and flip flops. The design process began with the understanding of streetwear and fashion trends, current market, product history, manufacturing and materials research, user needs and finally sketches, mockups and renderings.
INSPIRATION
The result of this project was ultimately inspired by trend research and the stories of each of the products. We studied the historical significance of the products from a cultural, aesthetic and functional point of view, coming to a closer understanding of why these products exist in the first plance and how they have been evolving with the times.
