Eton Market in Birmingham, Michigan, went through a complete reinvention under new ownership. It was transformed from a local convenience store into a fine wine and specialty grocery store. We were approached to create the new branding that communicated something upscale, detailed, and slightly vintage, but also approachable. We researched old signage and typography for inspiration, creating swash-connected custom lettering, with checkers and dots to add depth and character to the oval designs. The ownership had an affinity for the checker pattern, which would later be used as butcher paper to wrap gourmet sandwiches.
